WHO ARE WE?
The Fairfax County Student Human Rights Commission (SHRC) is Northern Virginia's first commission comprised entirely of high school students with the mission of promoting dialogues on diversity among youth, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of differences, creating exposure to human and civil rights laws, and encouraging leadership and active participation in government.
In light of recent COVID-19 events, students have been faced with uncertainty, anxiety, and a lack of resources to receive mental wellness assistance. To combat this issue, our commission is dedicating to creating a virtual platform, in which students gain direct accessibility to an open discussion on the importance of mental health. By offering solution options, we aim to help alleviate the current stresses that students face on the daily to ensure that every student feels valued and cared for. Through our emphasis on community and collaboration, we hope that we can offer all students assistance on all of their mental health concerns and needs.
